GROWTH AND EXPANSION

Crosslands is currently undergoing feasibilty studies for our Jack Hills Expansion Project. Our aim is to develop the mine to its full potential, for the benefit of the whole community.

To accommodate Crosslands’ growth and the development of other mines in the region, about 500 kilometres of new rail line is required. Mid-west mining companies currently transport more than 2 million tonnes of iron ore by road each year. The new heavy haul standard gauge railway will have considerable capacity and will be designed to minimise impact on the environment and communities along its route and will reduce the number of trucks on regional roads.

A multi-billion dollar deepwater port is also planned for Oakajee, 25 kilometres north of Geraldton, designed to handle over 35 million tonnes of bulk exports every year. Oakajee is one of the few natural deep anchorages on the Western Australian coast and the new port will accommodate 180,000 tonne cape size vessels. The world-class facility will be designed for dust control, and will generate significant jobs and growth opportunities for the mid-west region.

These facilities will be developed by Crosslands’ 50% owned sister company, Oakajee Port and Rail.

Crosslands is also investing in exploration, to identify new mineral deposits that will help boost our iron ore production rates. Geological testing is already underway at Jack Hills and at our other leases in the mid-west region.
